You know PFB? I just realised i'm PFD!

So, dp and i are away this weekend. We have a small dog and don't kennel him as he is basically a lap dog.

Previously he stayed at fil's but we have PFD'd him so much they find it stressful because he misses us.

Anyway we are now paying another family member to come dogsit pfd in our own home so he has his own comfort and...i have typed, yes TYPED a two page manual on how to care for PFD

They are soooo going to enjoy reading and probably endlessly shaming us with that.

I've even got it home and added some written notes for good measure e.g. lock both doors if going out (on dp's insistance).

These are two fully grown responsible adults that live alone and work and manage to get by just fine yet i think it is perfectly acceptable to type a manual on caring for our little PFD.

Obviously this is light hearted and true. Can anyone else beat me on the PFD front?

Disclaimer - we got our PFD a couple of weeks after our PFB was stillborn last year which goes a long way to explain why he is like he is and we are like we are. We have completely baby-ed him and are paying for it now.

I lost my pfd a fortnight ago but we were very silly over her! When she got too old to climb the stairs DH and I would carry her up (she weighed about 30kgs!).
After about 3 months of this we realised she'd much rather be left to snooze on the sofa downstairs.
We also used to carry a picnic blanket on walks so she wouldn't have to lie down on cold hard floors while we had a coffee/lunch/pint .
There's loads more but I'll get teary if I think about it too much.

She was lovely though and remained utterly unspoilt despite our nonsense!

sounds like you have her so much love though and that she enjoyed it all.

i wish i could say ours wasn't spoilt. We're getting better though, slowly.

it has been good practice eye opening for when we are ready to ttc again

We did the same upon leaving PFD with MIL. She didn't follow said manual so we have never left him since! He goes everywhere (except work) with us.
He's getting old and arthritic so we're trying to work out how to put steps so he can get on our bed easier.

how big is your dog squed? we bought some great plastic steps from ebay for ours. worth a look.

i am slightly starting to worry they break his routine. absolutely pathetic i know haha!

He's definitely mostly Jack Russell but he's enormous compared to the other ones I know so god only knows what he's mixed with. Possibly some staffy in there as he's got a very chunky chest. Squedgie mine is blind and we moved to a new house two weeks ago with four steep steps down from the back door and I made DH build him a ramp before we even had our bed put together

What a cutie! They do look quite similar but mine is much chunkier, I agree your parents dog looks very whippet-y

yes her back end is very slim. such lovely natured dogs.

ours is a sausage dog

He's quite large, 26kg. He thinks he's a lapdog though! We broke him, he was a rescue and not much into fuss or cuddles when we first got him. Hes basically our first child, as much spoilt as DD is!

aww i'm glad to hear im not alone.

There are some more robust steps on ebay / amazon not sure what they're like price wise.

Well, I'm away to put my coat over my pjs to go and stand in the garden in 70mph winds because PFD doesn't like to go out alone in the dark

Maybe this is why non-dog people think dog owners are nuts! We spoil our dogs, but they are part of the family. Wouldn't be without either PFD or PFB!

haha i hope that happens with us. we've not left him longer than 3 nights. The last time was a 1 night stay over where he wouldnt settle and sat by the door waiting for us to return.

I'm hoping he's better in his own home. You're right though, the manual is likely a complete waste .

Our dog won't even contemplate outside in this so well done to you. hope your coats a thick one!

dp is so much worse though. dogsitters have told us theyre taking him out tomorrow. do wants me to write a list on how to walk him yeah, i won't be doing that haha.
