I'm so excited, this little man is joining our family on Sunday! I can't wait to meet him.
He is a Labrador x Collie.
I am slightly nervous now it's getting nearer, I hope he settles in well with us.

Gorgeous! Do you think he will stay grey?

sparechange · 04/11/2016 16:03

Hi pup!
Is he grey/blue or is it the flash?

tickleyourpickle · 04/11/2016 16:03

I'm not sure if he will stay grey, he has lovely blue eyes too

tickleyourpickle · 04/11/2016 16:11

Sparechange, that's is actual colour! X

sparechange · 04/11/2016 16:17

That's beautiful! Is the collie side merle?

BagelGoesWalking · 04/11/2016 16:22

Don't want to rain on your parade, but are you sure he's a collie/Lab. Just seems a very unusual colour for those breeds. Both that and the ears are more Staffie?

Anyway, Lab/collie combo will keep you very busy, he'll need a lot of stimulation to keep him occupied...

tickleyourpickle · 04/11/2016 16:24

I'm not entirely sure, we are re-homing him so we've not seen the parents. I would say with the grey fur and blue eyes it's likely he is from a Merle though.

I popped into the vets today to book him in for a full health check so hopefully they might be able to tell me a bit more about him.

mogloveseggs · 04/11/2016 16:27

He is gorgeous! How about pewter? Or slater? Or gandalf (the grey)

LizzieMacQueen · 04/11/2016 18:32

I think you are mistaken; that is clearly the picture of a soft toy!

GinIsIn · 04/11/2016 18:39

He looks at least part staff to me too. Gorgeous little fellow!

Floralnomad · 04/11/2016 19:17

Where are you getting him from OP ? And have you actually not met him in the flesh

Madhousemummy · 04/11/2016 19:22

He is beautiful tickle. I love Gandalf too.

GoofyIsACow · 04/11/2016 19:26

wiccamum · 04/11/2016 19:30

tickleyourpickle · 04/11/2016 19:51

Yes it does look like he has some staff in him too.

Me and DH are meeting him tomorrow, If we are happy then the owners are going to bring him to our house on Sunday
I actually quite like Gandalf! Someone up thread mentioned he may be from a Merle collie, and the name Merlin came to mind

stonecircle · 05/11/2016 06:08

He looks lovely! Agree with others though - not sure about the lab/collie cross. We have one of those and he looks very different!

Whitney168 · 05/11/2016 08:13

That colour definitely doesn't come from a merle parent - merle is a dominant gene. I would say Staff cross too.

tickleyourpickle · 05/11/2016 08:45

I've googled lab/collie cross and they do actually look quite similar, it's just the colour that's throwing me. That was until I came across a silver Labrador, google it, they are stunning! I didn't even know that was a breed!
Whatever he is, he is bloody gorgeous!!

stonecircle · 05/11/2016 10:14

It's quite fun playing 'guess the breeds' with rescue dogs. We got 2 of ours from Labrador Rescue - one a lab/collie cross (although as the vet said, there could be other breeds in there). The other is a lab/German shepherd but, having grown up with a GS I'd say she's 95% GS! Maybe I'll have them dna'd one of these days! In the mean time it's very interesting working out what breed traits they display. They would both die for food so clearly all do have some lab in them!

DailyMailPenisPieces · 05/11/2016 23:10

I agree with Lizzie - definitely a soft toy. You've been done! it's even still got the price tag on

saffronwblue · 06/11/2016 00:12

We have a lab collie cross. She is a bit bonkers - and gorgeous. Food driven , wants to herd everyone, lies down in any water puddle, counter surfer, couch sleeper, very vigilant guard of house and street, will retrieve a ball for hours, adores every stranger. Have fun - you are in for a wild ride!
