Any idea what this might be?

I just saw this on my dog's paw. He's a 12 year old boxer-lab. The vet is closed now, only emergencies, and th dog isn't in pain or limping. In fact it doesn't seem to bother him at all (he's not licking it) which is why I just noticed this.

We'll take him to vet as soon as possible next week but I can't stop worrying what it might be. Dr google isn't helping!!

Call the vet, if this was my pet I'd still go, it could be anything.

We're definitely taking him to the vet to check it but it's not an emergency - the dog is his usual happy chappy self. I want it to be seen asap so will ask them to fit him in on Monday

My 11yo dog has had the same for ages!numerous trips to vet and lots of expensive pills,washes and skin tests later she still has it!

Started on one paw,now she has it on all four!I'm at my whits and with it!ive taken her to three different vets,and they don't seem to know what it is or how to treat it!

It doesn't seem to hurt her,but constantly weeps.

Oh I'm sorry you have this but good to hear that it's benign.

Being a boxer/lab we've had to get rid of many lumps and bumps over the years, thankfully all benign

Perhaps it's something to do with their age?

Our dog is American bull/English bull terrier.

Hopefully someone on here will know what it is and how to best treat it.

I don't want to worry you, but if it's any chance it might be Alabama Rot you must go to the vet immediately.

It starts with sores on the paws, gave a google abs see if it's similar.

not sure if what my lurcher had is the same about 3 weeks ago - he is still soldiering on and eating well but the lump is still there
I took him to the vet and he had expensive x-rays, biopsy, anti-inflammatories and finally! anti-biotics
the lump has shrunk but is still there looking like a cyst and the skin around is discoloured - he has lost his fur as it was shaved for the vet
I did ask on here but no-one could identify it and the vet was flummoxed!
if your dog is still eating and feeling up to activity - I do not think it is an immediate emergency. Wishing you good luck. My dog is 13 BTW

he was lying on his back, legs in the air so this was an easier photo

Yes, it could be age related especially as he has a history of getting lumps and bumps - but never with a sore.

We're not in U.K. so not sure if Alabama rot is here. In any case it doesn't seem there is much they can do to treat it!

I'll speak to the vet on Monday and see what they think.

reading about the alibama rot it probably isn't that as the bit I read says they normally die within 9 days.

Frump Alabama rot is most definitely in the UK.
I'm afraid I'm another call for the vet - the PPs dog could have something completely different to your dog and with some things waiting can only make it worse (and this more expensive to treat).

I think OP is not in the UK, the dreaded Alabama Rot is. Friends of mine lost their dog and it's heartbreaking.

My dog had what looks very similar to your dog, hers was on her face, took her to the vet and he said it was "hot spot" he gave me hibi scrub the stuff they use in hospitals to clean wounds, bathed 4 times a day and within a week it was gone. Have you tried dabbing cotton wool in salt water and bathing, till you get to the vet.

it's not a tick bite maybe?...it's so perfectly round, the tick has filled itself and then dropped off.

No, it's a growth from his paw pad with a kind of sore on top. Definitely not a tick.

I didn't think it's something systemic as he's happy and eating as usual. He's also not limping and the sore doesn't seem to bother him either.

I'll let you know what the vet says tomorrow!

Turns out that it's a growth of some kind which has become infected.
The vet wasn't too worried. So the dog is on a couple of weeks of antibiotics and then back to the vets to assess what needs to be done.
