Some of you may have seen my previous posts, I live in Portugal, and there are still a lot of street cats and dogs around. My last five dogs have come from the street, and all 15 of my cats have been picked up either by us or someone we know

On Wednesday my husband came home with an 8-12 week puppy that he'd found, covered in fleas and ticks and with her fur all matted with grass and seeds. She's been to the vet, and had all the treatment required, some of her fur on her tummy had to be shaved off, but she's the sweetest little thing

We've advertised for a good home for her through the various rescues in the Algarve but no-one has come forward as yet - so here I am again, 4th puppy from the streets in about 8 years - wish me luck Smile

Good luck! One of my rescues was a street dog and he's grateful every day that he gets to be a cossetted apartment dog now Halloween Grin

Thank you Smile

Good luck, sounds like she's a lucky dog. You know we all want to see a photo don't you?

I call troll on op unless we see a photo! WinkGrin

Does the wee beastie have a name? If not I'm sure Mnetters will be happy to help.

Costacoffeeplease · 28/10/2016 15:25

I wanted Muriel, but she seems to be Poppet. Still hoping for a good home for her

Squeeeeee!!

EssentialHummus · 28/10/2016 15:30

Oh god, I would end up as Crazy Pet Lady if I lived somewhere that had so many street dogs around.

Good on you OP. She's adorable!

Costacoffeeplease · 28/10/2016 15:32

I already am known as crazy English cat lady Confused

insan1tyscartching · 28/10/2016 15:56

Oh she is lovely, how will you bear to part with her?

GinIsIn · 28/10/2016 15:57

I'm sure you don't want to keep her, she looks HORRIBLE - you'd be much better off giving her to me! Grin

AdoraBell · 28/10/2016 15:59

She is gorgeous. One of mine was a street dog from Chile. She's just turned 8 😊

I do hope you can find a home for Poppy.

Costacoffeeplease · 28/10/2016 16:04

She'll only go if I think it's to something better than what we can offer - we have a problem in that one of our other dogs is extremely nervous and it took 18 months to introduce him to the last pup (who's now 3), so it's not going to be easy keeping them separate and doing gradual introductions

Fenella- Knowing absolutely nothing about you or your lifestyle, I can tell you are totally unsuitable to own a dog. To save her from your clutches, I will bravely sacrifice myself and become her owner! Wink (I genuinely wish I could but I could not give any dog a suitable home right now let alone a new puppy)

I know a lovely Portuguese woman called Magda. That would be a lovely name for her. Or maybe Lola...

How's she doing op? Smile

Costacoffeeplease · 28/10/2016 19:32

Well, I've just had a message from a potential new owner, so fingers crossed!

Gorgeous little pup!

Costacoffeeplease · 30/10/2016 08:57

She went to her new family yesterday evening. They seemed really nice - we're pleased for her, but also very sad she's gone

AdoraBell · 30/10/2016 11:46

Awww, hope she settles well.

paddypants13 · 30/10/2016 13:03

Awww, that's lovely news Costa. Well done!
