He strolled in with our two year old & a bag of shopping, then said "find somewhere to put this" and pulled out our newly christened Bruno nn brew. He is so tiny!!

costa I then went on to post within 10 minutes that we'd wanted to get a puppy. Sorry I didn't post my life story for you..

It does help if you don't drip feed

Backt0Black · 08/10/2016 10:39

He's a cracker! All the best Smile

Bigfam · 08/10/2016 10:41

Drip feed? 10 minutes later is hardly drip feeding, but I get the impression you'd be just as critical about other things people take joy in

OP posts:
Costacoffeeplease · 08/10/2016 10:54

Do you now?

I am critical of people who treat animals as toys and presents - if that's not you, fine, but your op could very well give the impression that it is a normal, acceptable thing to do

I would never want to give anyone that idea - and will challenge it each and every time I see it

Buttwing · 08/10/2016 10:55

He's gorgeous, so cute. I bought a puppy for my dp as a birthday present, we really wanted a second dog to keep ours company as because I'd just given up work I would have the time to look after it. I researched the breed, bought everything I would need for her and visited the breeder on several occasions before bringing her home and took photos of our house and garden for him to see.
Dp was made up as was the puppy who is now a five stone grown up and is currently asleep on the sofa whilst dribbling on my slipper.

kate33 · 08/10/2016 11:05

Well I think what a lovely way to surprise you op! We have been talking about getting a dog for the last 8 years but can't yet for financial reasons but when do I hope to surprise the dcs in a similar way. I still remember my mum coming into my room very very early in morning one Saturday (I was about 8) and waking me up with the new puppy. Just wonderful! Smile

WaitrosePigeon · 08/10/2016 12:32

Ignore Costa op, he/she is miserable on most threads.

Enjoy lovely Bruno, who will have a happy ending because he was much wanted SmileFlowers

Costacoffeeplease · 08/10/2016 12:35

Of course I am, I said so earlier 🙄

FeckTheMagicDragon · 08/10/2016 12:37

Lovely puppy OP. I'm sure he will be well loved and bring you jog. Even if I'm a cat person myself :)

(Ignores the miserable git ;) )

FeckTheMagicDragon · 08/10/2016 12:38

Joy. Not jog. Although he'll probably bring you that too.

WaitrosePigeon · 08/10/2016 12:38

Ps I think we need more pics OP Wink

tabulahrasa · 08/10/2016 13:01

"He was from one of dp's friends, someone he has known for years and works with, not some sort of back door dodgy breeder."

Except if he was anything like a decent breeder he'd have double checked with you that you wanted the puppy.

Sorry, I'm sure it seems shitty when to you it's a great surprise and people go Hmm

But that's because breeding is a huge issue and it's really sad that the message that getting a puppy ethically matters just doesn't seem to be a consideration to people.

I'm sure you're a great dog owner and your puppy will have a fantastic life, but if your OH's friend was happy to send him as a surprise for you, he is a dodgy backyard breeder and there are littermates and previous and future litters that might not be so lucky.

Bigfam · 08/10/2016 13:01

Thanks everyone. He's lovely.

I know him personally, he is not a dodgy breeder. Thanks, we will obviously be the best owners we can be.

Littlebee76 · 08/10/2016 13:15

He's gorgeous OP.

What a shame there are some oddballs on here than can't grasp the concept that you had discussed getting a puppy beforehand.

There's nowt stranger than folk!

Madbengalmum · 08/10/2016 13:18

Littlebee, they are known as mood hoovers in our house!

Littlebee76 · 08/10/2016 13:19

Oh I like that! I'll use that at work Grin

I've just pulled my jack Russell out of a dead duck,.
I'm guessing by the smell in the car on the way home it was at least 4 days deadEnvy my nostrils will never recover

I always say I'd never get another but their cheeky fun is hard to resist

Bigfam · 08/10/2016 13:36

What puppy do you have DixieNormas ?
I've always loved Jack Russells, I know they're a marmite dog, but I've had them throughout my life since I was a little girl.

Superdinocharge · 08/10/2016 13:52

Aw he looks so cute! How old is he? I want one!
