Help! Easy digesting food needed!

Please tell me about dog food! I have a 4 month old puppy, she came on royal canin and after being fussy with it plus reading reviews that RC ain't all that I slowly switched to Millie's wolfheart countryside mix. She's still fussy with that and I mix in a teaspoon of wet food too. She's been so fussy that I knocked her down from 3 meals a day to 2 to see if she was hungrier each meal which has worked but we've never quite got it right with her poo! And now after 10 days of soft poo becoming very loose she's on metronidazole and tinned chicken and rice from the vet. Which she is scoffing!!!

So, I'm looking for a great quality food but I think MW is too rich? Too high in protein?? I've to re introduce kibble after 48 hrs of chicken and rice and it would be good to find a kibble that suits her and firms up poos. And do I go half wet half kibble which she'll find more palatable?

If you want to stick with kibble, I personally recommend Skinners Field and Trial. We use the duck and rice one
Admittedly there are better brands out there but this has the lower protein level that you are looking for.

I second Skinners wholeheartedly, I've a pup with a funny tum and she thrives on this. I mix it with warm goats milk to soften rather than meat and she wolf's it down. Goats milk is kind on tummies, until they mature a bit. Once you get past the puppy stage they're usually much more hardy and can accept different foods.

Vet recommended chappie dry for my last dog she was sensitive to most food dried her up to solid a lot of people think the cheaper food is like giving them Mcdonalds it really isn't

Thanks guys, she's loving the vet canned chicken and rice so I think I'll give skinners a go when we re introduce kibble and do you think mixing in a small amount of canned food ok with kibble too or is that equally as rich? Do skinners do wet food?

Also, do you buy skinners in shop or is it an online order?? Thanks!

Pets @ home do skinners saw it last week i never mixed but i did keep some of the chicken and rice for my dog she had colitis so even with a change of food she would get bouts . You can also gdt a chicken & rice in a roll thing weeble i think its called vet said that was basically the same as their prescription stuff , new dog has stomach of steel he can eat anything

You can get Skinners in a load of animal feed shops - it's working dog food so is VAT free - and pet shops (though Pets at Home don't stock it). Personally I get mine off amazon as it works out a lot cheaper for us.
We also mix tinned food with it.

Wyldfyre, which canned food do you use? She's been put on royal canin sensitivity chicken and rice tins which she utterly loves, i could stick with this and add kibble back into it after her 2 day kibble holiday. The vets cost £3 a tin or its £2 a tin on Amazon which if I use kibble I would use a tin over 2 days but a similar cheaper version would be good!

Just whatever really. It then gets topped up with certain human leftovers - veg and such.

My mum has an elderly dog with digestive issues and he's now having Natures Menu pouches which seem very easy to digest and the dogs love it. They are not overly expensive particularly if you buy a few packs online , I think they are £1.27 per pouch in Pets at home .

Barking Heads Fusspot is great. It's the only food my dog's tummy can cope with.

Our chocolate lab (& our older black lab to a certain extent) found the Skinner F&T too rich and we had loose stools.

Only improved changing to a Salmon & potato dried food (we used Wainwrights), another chocolate lab owner I know who had similar issues used Burns.

Chappie was recommended by our vets, which is what we use now (didn't use before as didn't do a puppy mix).
