Is this kennel cough?

We adopted a lurcher today, utterly gorgeous, underweight but very friendly and quite calm, he's 14 months old.
He's lying on a folded up quilt on the floor dozing and suddenly had about 2 minutes of really huffing and puffing very fast, he's a few times today sounded like he's trying to cough up a furball which Google tells me may well be kennel cough. He was in kennels for 2.5 weeks.
Does anyone have experience of kennel cough? It was quite frightening!

I will be taking him to the vet tomorrow anyway but am looking for some reassurance tonight.

My dog had kennel cough, but it was a constant cough. Could be though!

Bless him. He looks gorgeous. Am sure the vet will sort him out tomorrow.

Have a look on YouTube for videos of dogs with kennel cough, it's fairly distinctive. Check for reverse sneezing as well in case it was that, it can sound terrible when they get going!!

KC isn't generally that serious, you can give them cough medicine to help though check with your vet as I can't remember which ones are suitable.

Make sure you let your vet know he could have KC as it's very contagious and they might prefer to see him outside.

My dog is very susceptible to KC , when they cough it sounds like a honk ,a bit like a goose . Leave him in the car at the vets so as not to spread it about if it is KC . He's very gorgeous , lovely long legs !

That sounds more like reverse sneezing to me. When DDog had kennel cough he coughed up tons of snot and was very clearly feeling very poorly and sorry for himself. No mistaking it

Yup - DDog gets it every few days. Absolutely fine and nothing to worry about. I think some breeds have a tendency to do it more than others.

Two out of my three whippets have reverse sneezing fits sometimes. It sounds a bit alarming but it's nothing to worry about.

Reverse sneezing sounds awful and was very worrying the first time we experienced it. I always very calmly stroke and reassure until the fit passes.
