Dog drying coat

Can anyone recommend a dog drying coat for my lab? Need something to put on him when we come off the beach which will help him dry off in the car on the way home.

There are loads on the market have a google

Equafleece, hotter dogs are great - spring things are also very good

Some people like the toweling coats like ruff and tumble or trover.

I prefer fleece as it does not get heavy on the dogs and dries really quickly

Microfibre towelling is better at absorbing so is faster at drying your dog. There is also a bespoke sizing option for only a few more quid, and also two other versions with chest and neck cover.

I would have to recommend Country Mun's ultimate dog drying coat. Alert - it's a family business and I know the owners but even so, I would definitely choose their luxury rug coat.

We have tried other drying coats that slip around, that get soggy and leave a wet dog and all manner of others. (We live in a rural area with lots of water and mud so we take our drying coats seriously!).
This one is fab - it is reversible and really helps to dry them quickly. Check out the reviews online rather than listen to me since you might think I'm biased.
If we go to a very muddy nature reserve etc, we put them on in the car for the drive home to warm them up - and an added bonus is fewer mud splashes on the car ceiling :)

I am looking for something for my spaniel cross sand/ mud magnet. I can't cope with taking a dog with a coat on out so was thinking maybe a drying coat would perhaps contain the muck and wet dog smell.

I have a dog robe for my elderly terrier but it was a gift and he does rock a dressing gown :-)

Our dog has a dog drying bag , we have an 'original doggy bag ' and it really works , I know people who have bought cheaper alternatives and they are not as good .

I can't recommend Ruffandtuble dog drying coats enough they are a bit expensive but well worth it. There sizing is very accurate and they are easy to take on and off. We have a boxer and a long haired German Shepherd and it does the job fantastically.

I like the look of the ruff and tumble ones but does anyone have one and not like them as they are quite expensive so trying to work out if there are any cons....

Me BiteyShark. I used to use Equifleeces on my dogs (the jumper ones with front legs) and they were great, but the dogs stopped liking having them put on as they got older, possibly arthiritis. So I bought the Rough and Tumble, and while they do an ok job once, they take forever to dry.. We used to use them for camping, and while the equifleeces dried overnight, the Rou and Tumbles didn't dry for three days! So we went back to regular fleece rugs. We use the Rough and Tumbles for one off drying (we do dock diving with one of my labs, and use it for him in the back of the car) or just as pjs on cold nights. They do look cute in them, but I probably wouldn't buy them again.

honeyroar thanks for the info. My dog is costing me a fortune so reluctant to spend money on something that is ok but not great. At the moment I use a microfibre towel to dry him so was wondering if a drying coat would be better but if it stays wet afterwards then there is little point as he gets wet twice a day at the moment and there is no way I would buy two at that price :)

Freckles Designs do really lovely drying coats that wash well and dry the dog quickly, www.freckles-designs.com they even personalise them for you if you want.

Oh and the underbelly one is the one I have as my dogs have tufty chests so the fact that it wraps up under their belly makes a huge difference.

It took me about an hour as it's my first effort, an old towel and some Velcro. I have several more ideas in my head for hoods and pockets 😳

I have hotter fleeces, Rough and Tumble and Collared Creatures coats. Collared Creatures wins because of the way they fasten - while the Rough & Tumble ones are lovely they do tend to slide off to one side, especially on bigger dogs, because the underbelly section wraps round from one side.

Hotter fleeces don't really have enough belly coverage unless you get a jumper which most biggish or older dogs don't take kindly to.

Collared Creatures stay put really well because there are two part which wrap round to actually fasten on the dog's back rather than at the side. There's also elastic which you can put the back legs through. If you have dogs who get completely soaked through or have long hair then keeping the coat in place makes a huge difference to your soft furnishings
