Dog breath!

Hello, we have inherited a lovely, gentle and calm 6 year old poodle. She is the perfect dog except for her foul breath
We have tried ever dental chew we can find (although she also has a weight problem so not over doing it) she also has minty raw hide to chew whenever she likes.
She has had a vet check and they looked at her teeth and didn't mention any problems and I forgot to ask but am satisfied there is no major health issue.
What can I do? Do you think brushing her teeth would help? Could you recommend any products?

What does she eat? My dog's breath when he ate kibble was foul but when we switched over to a raw diet (Natural Instincts) it got a lot better. His teeth have less tartar on them too now I notice.

Bakers weight control biscuity things, that may well be the cause

Full of sugar and carbs - almost definitely the cause.

As a rule of thumb, anything you buy in a supermarket (including Pedigree and Bakers) is utter garbage - filled out with wheat or maize which dogs do not need nutritionally and many are intolerant of.

Take a look at allaboutdogfood.co.uk.
Go for nothing less than a 3 out of 5. Look for one with a named meat source as one of the first three ingredients and avoid anything with maize or wheat as many dogs are intolerant.
Get the best you can afford but be aware that price is not an indication of quality - there are plenty of poor foods with a top price tag.
If budget is a concern, then in my view one of the best price to quality ratios is Skinners Field and Trial as its about the same price as Bakers/Pedigree/Wagg but far superior quality.

Yep. Skinners will be ok.

The chicken and rice is of a lesser quality than the Duck, turkey, salmon and lamb versions. (2.8 as opposed to 3.5)

You'd possibly be better off financially with the Duck, Turkey or Salmon as these are the Field and Trial line. Working dog food is VAT free and can still be fed to pet dogs.

Pretty sure that those dental sticks are rubbish for actually cleaning teeth!

My vet says that dogs teeth should be brushed daily, she told us to aim for 6 days a week then when it averages out to being about 4 days a week her teeth will still be well cared for! I always notice if I miss a few days in a row as her breath gets noticeably whiffy. I've got to admit I don't do daily, but aim for 2-3 times a week and it really makes a difference.
