How do you have your spaniel groomed?

Probably a really silly question. But what do you ask for at the groomers? She's had a trim before and a short cut when she had a skin condition and she looked like a fat sausage dog. But the cuts never look right.

So we've let her fur grow and it's quite long now imo and she's just such a typical cocker she's always in any mud or puddles she can find.

Even after a brush she looks scruffy.

Yet most other spaniels I see are beautifully groomed and tidy.

I'm pretty sure "spanner" is just an affectionate variation on the word "spaniel" Wink

Trionic Thanks for this - in retrospect it is obvious but I was tired and drunk couldn't concentrate.

Now I feel a right "spanner"! Grin

I have a springer and we don't really have him groomed, we give him a good cut ourselves.

He's scared of the clippers and the hair dryers the groomer uses and it costs a fortune as they do it all by hand.

He constantly blunders through bushes and ends up covered in burrs and caught in brambles so we try and keep him fairly short, especially during the summer - he's been really hot the past few weeks. In the winter there's less undergrowth and he's cooler so we leave him longer

After seeing this thread I thought I should do something about ours. After recommendations on a spaniel group I bought a Mars Coat King 20 from Amazon about half an hour of gentle brushing our working cocker girl has a beautiful sleek coat but natual looking doesn't look cut at all just natural. It was £25 but we have 2 working cockers so I think a good investment, can't tell you how pleased I am with it.
