Bloody dog!

Our boxer dog is 10 months old.

She is full of beans and recall isn't great, although if no serious distractions she will come back when called.

The problem is she will run up to people and other dogs if she has no one to play with.

If she is playing with another dog she will not come back when called and I have to chase her.

I'm heavily pregnant and really need to sort this out as I cannot be running after her whole she runs circles around me.

Should I just keep her on the long lead until she learns?

Help!

Yes , you need to keep her on some kind of lead / line until she is trained .

Oh yes, the dreaded 'teenager' phase of a puppy when rules go out the window and your perfectly recall-able dog will not come back. Could have happily strangled my dog when he went through this, I cried in the park once cos he would just not come back. Kept him on the long line for a bit until he improved so that is a good idea you've got especially as you can't run after him.
It will pass as he gets older hopefully

She won't just learn. This needs training. Yes keep her on a lead until you have good recall.
