My youngest son is being told he should do D of E by his dad. He is going to miss playing football matches as the training for D of E is on the same evening. He will miss watching all the Euro matches this weekend as its the trial walk/camp. Our eldest son did D of E but I believe children should make up their own minds. My husband says it makes kids stand out when they have set themselves this kind of challenge. Ahhh...I don't know whether to try and make my husband see that he shouldn't be forcing kids to do anything they don't want to or just stay out of it. Advice please.

You might want to get post moved to different topic for more responses.

Yep, you're in the dog section.

Tend to agree with you though - aim to help our children find something they are passionate about.

Is he actually forcing him? Or steering him towards doing it as he thinks it will give him an advantage later on?
