Clicker training

Hi really stupid question probably but do you click when they start doing the toilet or just as they finish?
Also any other things I should be training straight away we have a toddler and a 7 year old so it's really important pup is trained not to jump up what's the best way to go about this?

I do clicker training but don't use one for toilet training.

I train most things with a clicker except toiletting.

It's 99% about the dog being in the right place at the right time IMO. I just don't think you need the precision of the click.
