finding a puppy rescue

Dh has finally agreed to another dog
We are really keen to go along the rescue route this time...but...with having small Dc would ideally like a pup.

Have looked on Many Tears website.
Can anyone recommend any other rescues to look at?

For full disclosure we already have Ddog,who is a sweetheart and the before mentioned small Dc

Not sure how it works with other rescues but both our dogs were 8 week old rescue pups when we got them from the SSPCA and both times it was just luck that we went in when they had a litter. Ddog1 they told us when they would be going on the website/available to reserve and we booked the day off work and went up as soon as it opened as otherwise they all would have been snapped up. Ddog2 they let us reserve before she went on the website as they were so pleased that we brought ddog1 in for a visit

Both are currently lying on/next to me having an afternoon nap 😍

Maybe try phoning round some rescues to see if they have any litters in?

Have you tried the dogs trust? They tend to have older dogs who can't be around young children.

Preloved might be worth a try.

I guess it depends on where you live. Have you tried googling?

I have tried googling,but a lot of gumtree,pets4homes show up...I'd much prefer a 'proper' rescue iykwim?

Dogs trust in Kent get lots of puppies ,there was an article in the local paper about it , apparently it's because a lot get seized at Dover as they are being imported from abroad .

I think RSPCA and Dogs Trust say you can register and they will let you know about pups. What about a greyhound? GRWE?

Hounds First rescue have puppies just now, too young to even be rehomed, they were made slightly famous by a mnetter over a year ago!

I agree with trying smaller local rescued too!

Dogs from the continent are also rescued and brought here so I included some more links. Some of these are beautiful dogs and worth considering. A lot of UK rescues have Staffi/bulldog in them these days.

As you have a DC I would advise you not to get any puppy but think carefully about what sort of dog it might be when it is older so it might take you some time to find the right one.

Google or search on FB, you'll find all the above. If you're on the lookout for a puppy, I would join all the rescue FB groups which look good to you and keep an eye out/be in regular contact with the rescue. They're usually a lot more up to date than websites and get more "traffic".

Puppies will get adopted far quicker so you need to be on the ball, but patient at the same time! If you find one that's not local, you can organise a homecheck anyway. There is a national network of homecheckers who can help out. Also, many rescues are looking for fosters, so you can always offer to foster as a first step.
