Help - the dog is Houdini!

The silly dog (my mums, a cairn/yorkie cross) ) seems to be able to get out of everything we try to put him in. He's wiggling out of harnesses and collars and running off (he likes adventure but he is happy at home)
He comes home after a wander but he's no road sense at all. Mum has tried to train him to return when off the lead but no luck as yet

Does anyone have any recommendations for a collar or harness he won't wiggle out of?

Perfect Fit harnesses are great. They come in three interchangeable parts so you can get a close fit. I have one as my lab is a working shape and off the peg ones gaped at the front.

Perfect fit definitely. You have to measure the pup, and it still might take you a couple of goes to find exactly the right one, but when you do it is worth it.

My houdini (DDog2) made very short work of the Perfect Fit, no matter what combination of pieces I tried.

You need a harness with an extra strap around the dog's waist. Providing their waist is smaller than their chest there's no way for them to get out of one. I can highly recommend the Indi-Dog Houdini Ultra. It's absolutely impossible for DDog2 to escape from. I use them for my whippets as well as their shape means it's very easy for them to get out of normal harnesses even when they're not intending to.

A better picture of the harness I linked to. Obviously whippets have quite an extreme difference between chest and waist but you can see how the third strap works to keep the harness in situ.
