Cheering up a depressed dog

PIL have a golden retriever. They've gone on holiday and BIL was staying at their house to look after the dog. They left on Thursday and dog hasn't eaten and keeps looking for them.

In an effort to cheer him up he's coming out to me on Tuesay. I have a golden as well and they love to play together.

Any tips on cheering him up? PIL have gone away before and he's been fine but is really pining this time.

Hi Helga, I too am a goldie owner. When we lost one of ours two years ago, our other golden became very depressed. We found playing lots of games with him seemed to help...in fact we had to play "hide the chicken" to get him to eat anything
! They are such emotional dogs. I am sure being with you and your dig will help to cheer him up.
Also maybe give him some treats with his food to tempt him too. Hope he settles down.
