We have a dog. His buddy was pts a year ago. We'd like another one.

We have children

I work part time

We have a secure garden

Own our own house

We have money to support an older dog with medical issues

And yet we have Devils own job to rescue a dog. I'd really like a greyhound.

We have been in touch with the local centre. 21 dogs. Not one suitable for us Hmm. I have been in touch with our dog trainer - knows of a lady who has one in foster that could be suitable. Sent her a along message last week, was going to receive a call weds/thurs then I had a message saying how busy they are. Ok I understand, but surely if you have one ready for adoption then you free up a space for a new dog in need.

I know rescues have to be careful. I know that we should be patient but bloody hell I'm on the brink of buying a cute pup from Facebook or a 'change in circumstances' dog from gumtree not really. Not in a million years

.

This is a rant. I know I have to be patient. I will be patient. I know how hard rescue centres work. I just would like another wet nose and waggy tail in my life.

Sorry I missed a bit off my post. They weren't sure they could do a home check on us being so far away.

Very helpful though.

Anyway it looks like this current one is about to be successful.

Just saw the other thread then realised I never updated!

So we did rehome a rescue dog. She is awesome. She is a very crossbred mongrel. No idea what she has in her.

We got her from the rescue centre we were originally in touch with. (from the meet and greet) Local and small. The dog was in foster care - so not a centre we could rock up to and get things 'done'.

The rescue centre didn't become any better with their organisation. They clearly love dogs but don't love the admin side of it. It was dreadful from start to finish. Including them dropping by unannounced, home checked by an elderly lady that couldn't manage our stairs Confused, incorrect paperwork/errors. Didn't hand over her passport etc for ages.

I never thought it wasn't legit. Just bloody disorganised.

I don't care anymore though. She's here and we love her.

Oooh cross post sorry! Lovely!!!

rescueremedy1104 · 09/04/2016 20:10

I've come this far... Here's a pic with our existing dog.

They get on really well. He's adopted a big brother attitude towards her. Much more relaxed and playful.
