Castration recovery

Ddog is being castrated next week but we've been given conflicting advice on recovery times. Our vet says 3 weeks, friend who is a vet says 5 days . Can I ask for your experiences? Ddog is a lab cross, 14 months old.

Take your vets advice there are several different surgical techniques and several different closure methods. Me I am in the middle at 10 days.

I can't really remember for CandleDog, but I think it was about a week. He was a pathetic little scrap when he came home from the vet, but was fine in himself the next day.

It took 2 days for my 2 yr old lab to get back to normal, he'd had a pain killing injection before leaving the vets and was groggy from the anaesthetic for 24 hrs. The wound was glued so no stitches or clips and he didn't need a cone, was surprised at this but vet said it'd be fine and it was.
Although he wanted to run about I didn't let him off lead for a week.

Thanks all, I will do as lonecat says.
