Anyone else following Jessie on BlackRetriever rescue?

Basically dumped in a pound after 10 years as a yard dog. Stinking, matted hair, the works. Went into foster in Ireland where it became apparent he had bowel/stomach issues.

His own vet was advocating a softly softly approach which wasn't working. So BRX got him to UCD vet college. Where they thought they'd solved the problem but he's had a relapse, is back in and a scan has showed a blockage/foreign object which they think has been there a while but has moved so it's the first time they've seen it on a scan. He's due to be operated on tomorrow or sooner if he starts to go downhill.

The story of this boy has really touched me. After years of being mistreated he finally had a chance of a home and comfort and then he has to go through all of this.

Yes me. Poor dog. And he always looks so trusting. No animal deserves to suffer. X

Yes! Me. He is so beautiful and has had such a crap life :(

There's just been an update - unfortunately not a good one. Biopsy confirmed cancer and Jessie was put to sleep this afternoon. I'm honestly gutted.

Poor boy

Jessie broke my heart, such a kind dog. I donated towards his vet bills, wish that I could have done more. He had such a horrible life.

I donated as well peace. At least he went peacefully and didn't just die alone somewhere.

Such a sad ending but he knew love, care and attention before the end. Poor boy.
This rescue does amazing work.

Yes, A gave him so much love. Just feel so furious about his first ten years and that he was dumped. I keep recommending the rescue on here to the people that insist there are no nice family dogs in rescue.
