our beloved dog has started peeing on the landing carpet, which is coir. Any ideas about dealing with it? Can I use a steam cleaner?

I'm not sure if you can. Vanish foam might work I suppose. I don't think steaming it would be a good idea as tge dampness may make it start rotting.

I think you need to google it. Simple Solution is very good. A steamer will get rid of pretty much everything. Just make sure you've blasted out any water so the floor isn't actually wet. A steam cleaner isn't going to make the carpet wetter than piddle!

Soda water then blot with toilet roll, and repeat and repeat
