Which dog food to feed puppy/dog?

We are picking up our border collie puppy on Sunday and am after advice from fellow dog owners about which dog food (dry) you use or recommend! I've always used 'Hills science plan' in the past? But am wondering if anything as good, but maybe a bit cheaper? Or whether you get what you pay for?!!

I'd keep them on whatever the breeder has been feeding them initially, until they're settled with you. It's not unusual for puppies to go off their food or have slightly upset stomachs when they go to their new homes so it's not an ideal time to changing what they're eating as well.

Usually a breeder will include a bag of food in their puppy packs.

Trionic, yes the breeder is giving me some food to take away do I can mix in gradually to the food we will use.

Think you get what you pay for with dog food in the main.

I've just been looking into dog food because my almost 5 year old dog has completely gone off her high quality wet food. I've tried her on another couple over some weeks but nothing seems to suit so decided to try a dry food.

Vet recommended Canagan and pet shop said they've had a lot of positive feed back on it. It's not the cheapest, but it's not stuffed full of grains like most dry foods; Canangan is one of the few that isn't.

Anyway, fed it for the first time yesterday, mixed with her current wet food. Every scrap eaten and bowl licked clean.

Bearing in mind this is a dog who has been leaving, if not all, some part of every meal for some weeks, I'm pretty impressed.

I'm hoping she'll settle on this. She seemed really happy after she'd eaten too, which was a bit strange but it was almost as if she felt happy because she'd enjoyed a good meal for the first time in ages.

We feed Millies Wolfheart. They don't have a puppy version of the food as their standard food is high enough quality/protein for a growing puppy.

Its grain free and made from good quality uk sourced proteins. Lots of recipes to try out and excellent customer service if you need any feeding advice (they have a facebook group you can join too to ask for advice).

There's quite a few grain free good quality dry dog foods now, some like Millies are only available online but usually work out a little bit cheaper than in the shops as they can sell as "working dog food" (its totally suitable for pets but you save on the VAT).
