Goodbye my funny little friend

My sweet boy Berkeley was PTS this morning. He was just shy of his 16th birthday and unwell due to a number of issues... back leg weakness, dementia and tongue cancer. I just wanted some virtual hugs really as I am struggling with this and miss the little fella so dreadfully already. I could hardly let go of him today to bury him. I feel totally at a loss without him and my heart is aching dreadfully.

Beautiful boy. I thought my heart was breaking when my little bull terrier went, aged 14, the summer before last - 16 is a fantastic age, and a testament to how well care for he must have been.

Oh Lime I'm so sorry. I have thought of you and Berkley many times over the last few weeks and wondered how you are. Take good care of yourself. We are all here if you need to talk.

Thank you everyone. I am not coping very well but I know it is early days. It has helped to share him here with you all and to read all your lovely comments.

My boys are NOT self cleaning!! But I did think of you on our walk today, it was sunny for the first time in weeks.....

My spaniels are on 'buy one get one free' at the minute if you are interested

Thank you so much everyone. You have all been so lovely to help me through this tough time and I appreciate it so much. Thank you as well for all the lovely comments about my Berkeley. He was a stunning, intelligent and stoic little chap.... so very much missed. As I work from home I have hardly spent any time apart from him in all these years except for 2 holidays and going to the shops or out for meals. Even then, I was always dashing home to see him again afterwards. We were always together so this is a massive change in my life and hole in my heart.

I am making a huge effort to smile and remember and try to celebrate his life rather than mourn his death and even picked him a humerus grave marker that I know he would love.

My next little project, which is a cathartic way to look at all his old photos and videos, is to make a video with music. I hope, if I post it here, you will all enjoy it too.... a little snap shot of my boys amazing and happy life.
