Jack russell in season?

Hi looking after daughter's 6 month old jack russell and have found blood spotting on the bed she slept on last night. Also much licking of the area. My 3 year old neutered lab seems perplexed but that is usual for him. Is it too early for her to have started? Never had girl dogs before. Vet closed of course.

No, it's not too early. Six months is fairly usual. Keep a close eye on her, DO NOT let her off the lead and either keep her confined to garden (supervised in case she makes a run for it) or walk well away from other dogs or at anti social hours. Her mood may change; mine was very clingy and morose during first season.

She is most likely to be in season, but she could also have a problem with her bladder or anal glands so its worth keeping an eye on her.
