Dog won't come inside

....is it illegal to just leave him there? He'll likely jump the fence and that's that. There's no-one I can call to catch him and absolutely nothing you can suggest that I haven't done already (such as food, toys, commands, etc).

I can't chase him it makes it worse and I'm very heavily pregnant with some serious mobility issues.

I can't just stand in the freezing cold either it's been an hour or so now I keep going out and trying again but he won't budge. I need to sleep :( I don't know what to do. He could run off at any point, he thinks it's fun coz he's doing that "chase me" dance thing dogs do.

My neighbours will probably complain as well. He doesn't bark but he could get in their gardens. I'm 100% at a loss. Obviously if he gets back in he won't be out without a leash again (never needed one in over a year)

Can you just go in and leave the door open? That usually works for mine - especially if I start pottering around in the kitchen - he will come in in case he's mising something.

Can you get a friend or neighbour to come play chase?
What about if you rattle his lead? Will he come if he thinks he's getting a wall?

My dog does this when she's under exercised or under stimulated. Is there anyone that can help you with exercising him?

Also it might be worth investing in some new toys or puzzle feeders to make indoors more interesting and doing some recall training with great rewards (hotdog works well) never chase - that only reinforces it. And always reward for coming to you. I know it's tough now but no you can't allow him to escape and if he's doing this cos he's not stimulated then it's worth looking for more longterm solutions as things will get tougher when LO arrives

What are you doing to try to get him in? how big is the area that he is in?

Mine does this sometimes. What works for me is to shut the door and walk away. She can't bear to think she's missing out!

This has brought back memories. Ours used to do this, especially with someone less experienced with her ways. Rattling her lead sometimes worked, or a treat if she was close enough to be able to smell it. Sometimes though she just refused and she'd just come back when she was good and ready.

If you lie down or sit on the floor just inside the door would he come? Make a noise like you have hurt yourself or are crying? Then get ready to grab his collar and have some tasty food in your hand

Get a packet of crisps, biscuits or something, sit on the step and noisily eat them. Hopefully he'll come over to see what you have.

I've found that saying "what's this" in a really excited voice and scrunching something grabs DDogs attention when all usual commands fail (he's often found dancing round the park when he should be coming home).
Is garden secure? Can you ignore for a bit and then call?
