Rescue rehoming with children

Can anyone recommend a rescue who are happy to rehome to a family with children?
I have a 9 month old and a two year old.
Large enclosed garden with fences at 6 feet. I'm at home 90% of the time so wouldn't be left alone for long.
Not bothered by breed or age. Also happy to rehome a bonded pair. Only requirement that it is a small dog. Any help? Most rescues I am checking seem to have a blanket ban on rehoming with children under 8

We have two rescue dogs. The first came to us when ds2 was 2.11 years and the second, almost a year later. Our two dogs came from the RSPCA and Dogs Trust, respectively (neither of which have a blanket ban, at least not at the branches we adopted from). We were also home-checked and approved for adoption from: Just Whippets Rescue (used to be called Scruples), Greyhound Rescue West of England (GRWE) and Retired Greyhound Trust. There are several MNetters with rescues from different organisations who got their rescue dog when they had small children.

IME, many rescues won't let you adopt any dog when you have young children, but will let you adopt a suitable dog.

That's why I have said breed and age are not important. I don't want an accessory, I want a companion that I can give a good home to. I am happy to wait until a suitable dog comes up. All I require is a small dog. No bigger than a cavvie. I have a few health issues which mean I cannot walk an overly large, strong or bouncy dog.

Many Tears rehome to families with children, as do Heathlands

I've looked at many tears and applied but I can't get there so they have said they cannot help.
Should have said I don't drive. I can get transport to about 30/45 mins radius of my town but that's about it. I am in south Lincs. I have looked at Jerry green so will log an application with them too

I'd go along to a few places and discuss, honestly with them what type of home you could offer. I found I often got a more helpful response by going to the rescue than taking to someone over the phone. They will be able to tell you if any of their dogs at the moment are suitable - bare in mind that a week later, there might be different dogs there, so keep checking back.

Another thing to consider is that child-friendly rescues get rehomed quickly. Our whippet never even made it onto the RSPCA website. Similarly, when we were looking for ddog2, the dogs the Dogs Trust showed us were new in to the centre and hadn't even made the website.

Have you tried was.oldies.org.UK if you're not fussed about age. They don't have a blanket ban on children.

Definitely check out Balkan underdogs. They will rehome to families and have lovely dogs already in the uk in foster homes.

Silver Fox Dog Rescue - specialise in smaller dogs. Maybe Bibi?
Ravenswood Dog Rescue - nearest to you on Cambridge/ Norfolk borders.

All have FB groups and websites. If you saw a dog you really liked, then small rescues will usually try to work out something re. transport if at all possible.

Try and get homechecked by the rescues you like the most, then you're ready to go if a suitable dog arrives at the rescue. This is important for you, as smaller dogs are often the most popular.

I've just adopted a dog from Isle Rescue, they're just outside of Gainsborough over the river. We have a 4yo DD, I think they rehome to anyone, rather than a blanket ban on children under a certain age. Also the Lincolnshire Greyhound Trust rehomed to us when DD was 7.5mo. I know you said small but Greyhounds are generally very well behaved on a lead, they're taught from an early age how to walk on a loose lead. My DD can walk ours with no problems. I take him back if I see another dog approaching because he can be a bit 'fish-on-a-line' with other dogs but if we're on the empty field then it's fine.
