What food do you give your diabetic dog?

Our 12 year old terrier has just been diagnosed as diabetic. The vet has recommended Purina PVD DM as a first choice, or Chappie. Plus twice-daily insulin.

If you have a diabetic dog, what do you feed it? And where do you buy the food (getting it from the vet's will be expensive, so we'll buy online or locally).

We have a terrier diagnosed with diabetes aged 12. We give her Chappie, either from Pets at Home or Ocado. And we buy the prescription then order the needles and insulin from Pet Drugs Online.

A vet wouldn't advise it, but we use each needle twice, rinsing with boiling water after the first use. Order can insulin 0.5ml syringes.
