Can anyone recommend good pet insurance. We got a month free for PetPlan, but they've quoted what amounts to £425pa, which seems a lot. Is this standard?

We're insuring our 10wo collie.

I insure my two cats with direct line. When we had to call on the insurance they were fantastic - really pleasant to deal with and very efficient.

I pay £25/month for them but I suspect I could get it for less if I haggled. A pedigree dog will always be more to insure than a couple of moggies though!

Thanks MummaGiles. I've got other insurance with direct line, so I'll give them a call.

In that case you should get a discount too!

We've insured our dog, a mongrel, with Petplan since we got him at 8 weeks and four years later we're paying just over £22 per month, so around £265pa. He's coming four and we've claimed twice for injuries, they paid out very quickly on both occasions.

Yes I second the lifetime plan suggestion. Dogs can live for a long time and treatment for anything ongoing can be expensive if not covered.
