Anyone ever tried a dog flap in a double glazed pvc door?

Our dog is in and out a lot, so would be useful. We have a top glazed door, so in theory could cut. Hole in bottom panel but is it practical or could we replace it with a door with a pre drilled dog flap (I think I've seen them advertised but not recently?).

We have a dog flap in our uPVC door, my husband fitted it and it works a treat for our border collie and our spaniel.

Hells Did you cut a piece of glass out or did you take a whole panel of glass out?? Id be interested in this also. Cheers

Ours is half glazed like justgo mentions but in a past home we did have a cat flap in a double glazed patio door, we contacted a local glazing firm who cut the hole for us and fitted the unit. It wasn't horribly expensive I seem to recall.

I have a dog flap in a half glazed door. Works great - although I no longer have a dog, but the cat now uses it! (She used the small window next to it before, because you know, she couldn't use what the dog did)

My parents also have had one fitted in their conservatory l. Their dog likes to stand half in half out and sniff the air. But yes, well worth it if you can fit one.

Looked into it a bit more and we may have to change the door as our bottom panel is moulded (not flat) iyswim

Does anyone know if you can get dog flaps that are operated via the chip?

I'm curious about this as well. That's good to know re moulded doors. We want to get a new door and we'd like to get a dog flap but are concerned about security. When I've Googled I've only found expensive options. What are other people coming up with?

Does it affect insurance?
