7 month old springer has been a bit off colour since yesterday morning. She normally scoffs her food but hasn't really been interested yesterday and not at all today. She hasn't drunk anything either this morning. She has also has blood in her stool both days. She has been out for a walk both days & happy to run around but especially today seems really lethargic & shivery inside. Is it an emergency vet situation or ok to wait until tomorrow? She is up to date with worming etc. First time dog owner so not sure what to do?

Phone the vet asap. If she's not drinking and is shivery that would say to me there is something really wrong. It's not worth taking the risk. Let us know how she is.

Vet. Now. Young pup, bloody in stools and not drinking could be very, very serious. Ring them now.

Thanks, she has now eaten some rice & had a good drink. She's also stopped shivering, I think she just hadn't warmed up from being outside as she's a bit on the skinny side. Definitely not her usual self so will keep an eye on her. Hoping we can wait until the morning so we can see her usual vet.

Just get her to the vets, I would have had her there after the first bloody stool!

I don't really understand why you waited? If it's because you dont want to disturb the vet then dont worry, they have oncall and they would rather make sure puppy was ok than see it get worse. If it's to save you hassle of travelling out on a sunday then you are going to have a long life with a dog, they deserve care and respect and treatment if they are ill, it costs a shit load of money but you need to find a way to take them to a vet if they need to go and they always get ill at inconvenient times..... puppies will dehydrate and die really quickly, within hours in some cases and it's great that she's had a drink/food etc but blood in stools and 24 hrs without water is serious for a 7 month old puppy. I really hope she's ok but never delay just ringing a vet, it's just not worth it.

Like I said, she did eat & drink yesterday so knew she wasn't going to dehydrate. Googling blood in stools for dogs seemed to indicate a bug she'd picked up and not a freak out situation. I wouldn't bring my child to the dr at the first sign of illness, I usually she how they fare over a day or two. Same thing here. Took her to the vet this morning who reckons she's eaten something dodgy and given her a steroid injection to reduce inflammation & her temp. No concern on her part. Thanks for your concern though, it sounded more alarming written down than how she was acting in reality.
