I just went to look at a puppy I was thinking of buying from a supposedly reputable person.

The conditions they were being kept in were horrendus, there were 2 left and I ended up buying them both and the mum too.

I'm pretty sure the pups are not 8 weeks, maybe nearer 5, and the poor Mum looks exhausted, under fed and pretty unhealthy.

I know I shouldn't have bought them, I know I shouldn't have, but I needed to get them out of there, I absolutely couldn't have left them there.

I am sitting here frantically doing sums, I think I can afford to keep them all, I have enough time, energy, space etc. I will take them up to the vet tomorrow morning first thing to get them checked over.

Please tell me if it is wise (they are all female) to keep them all.

What should I be doing, what can I do?

I have no idea what came over me.

you are a star - and what you did was so self-less I can only admire you for it. I hope I would have been as compassionate and taken all of them as you did. Star Flowers
the cruelty of some people to animals never ceases to sadden me - I hope your story will stop people buying from these unlicensed breeders.

Thanks, i didn't feel like such a good person yesterday but having spoke to the rescue lady for hours tonight I'm feeling better.

They are going to support me with fostering them until after christmas. They are stopping adoptions just now until January anyway.

They have a huge waiting list for pups and they will be rehomed very easily, the rescue are going to sort out their jabs and getting them neutered.

She thinks the Mum will have problems with being used to breed while so young and the way she was living but they have a dog trainer who helps them out and she is going to give him my number so he can give me some help, the rescue lady will pop in every week too so they are being really helpful.

As the Mum will be harder to rehome I am going to get myself prepared for keeping her and find out as much as I can, I'll get her back up to strength and then start classes with her. I would love to keep one of the pups too but Mum is my main concern right now.

The rescue lady is putting the name of the 'breeder' out there so her network will keep an eye on them potentially buying another dog, unfortunately this isn't foolproof but it's the best she can do.

Well done OP what a kind person you are.

So glad you've made contact with a good rescue and are getting lots of support OP. I hope that things go well for you and the three lucky dogs you rescued. At least by taking the mum you've prevented her from being bred again and again. She has a good chance of a happy ever after ending (as do the pups, but they had a much better chance to start with).
