Barking Dog Next Door

This could quite easily go in AIBU. We have new neighbours in a semi detached house and they seem lovely. They mentioned when they moved in two weeks ago that they had a dog which is fine as we do as well and so do most of our neighbours. The dog today has now been barking for 2 straight hours and I am losing my cool. I work from home and this isn't the first occasion it has happened. I have never even seen the dog and have never seen them take it for a walk which is odd as you are aware every time the front door opens so it would be hard to miss. Should I say something about the barking and risk ruining our future relationship or do I wait and see if the dog settles? I hoped it was just the new environment stirring it up but it has been a few weeks now. Any advice would be great as my dog only barks very occasionally and I have no experience in the matter.

I'd mention the barking in case they don't know (I'm assuming they're out or it wouldn't carry on so long) if you do it out of concern for the dog rather than a complaint then they're not hugely likely to take offence.

It's only after that if they don't do anything once they definitely do know about it that it becomes trickier.
