Help 4 month old jrt and 3 year old lab

I am dog sitting the jrt, they have met before several times but with her owner here as well. Punterlab has put up with the attempts to kiss him quite well but is now growling, baring teeth and swiping her. Should I let them sort it out or separate rooms now?

Do you trust your lab?

I think Lab has evey right to say when enough is enough, and is unlikely to actually attack the dpup. If dpup does this to any ddog, said ddog is going to have had enough and it willl get told off.

I would stay by and watch them together until your ddog snaps and really tells the dpup to give it up! His behaviour so far says he is unlikely to do any more than make a lot of noise to tell it off and dpup needs to learn this as part of socialisation, before it gets to adulthood and potentially starts to fight back when told off.

Its a safe opportunity for dpup to learn this.

Thanks. It got better as the day went on and after they had been for a walk together. She is still trying to put her head inside punter lab's mouth, I expect if he was going to snap it off he would have done so by now!
He is the most gentle, laid back, submissive lab I know, but did make some really angry noises at her!
