can dogs get colds?

Our dog has got an odd sounding chest, like a grunt? She is snoring louder than usual too. Was wondering if dogs could get colds? She's eating and drinking normally - and has her usual mad puppy moments (even though she is 6!) Any thoughts - obviously we will take her to the vets if she deteriorates.
thanks very much in advance

I think sound. Mine had kennel cough which is a cold for dogs. I always check everything by the vet just in case. Give them a ring in tge morning if no better

Mine had the dog equivalent of 'snot and grot' the other day (technical term Wink my GP friend used whenever the DC were cold-y, snotty, cough-y, gunky eyes etc). It lasted about 3 days or so and then he was back to normal- was definitely not himself at the time though

Must be doing the rounds! My boy was a bit rough on Friday eating Ok but reluctant to go for his walk first thing which is Not Him. Also sneezing a lot & snorting through his nose as if blowing it. No cough though.

Took him to the vets, after a chat with the nurse, as a precaution & vet gave him anti-inflammatories (as a chew which he loved!!) & he's now back to full bounce mode. :)

could well be kennel cough - which sounds like a sort of 'backward sneeze'
if you google it there are videos showing a dog with KC and how it sounds
my lurch had it last year and he took about 2 weeks to get over it - and for him to stop the 'hacking cough' (kept me awake at night )
mixing with other dogs or walking where a dog with KC has passed thru is the usual source.
seemed not to bother him at all - he ate his food and loved his walks just as much Smile

thanks everyone -she seems a lot better today - so maybe like a human cold worse in the evenings? Am keeping a close eye on her - it doesn't sound like kennel cough -going by the videos on google - but more frog in her throat if that makes sense!

relieved to hear she is not suffering the KC cough Smile - however did we manage before google and the videos for our diagnoses
