It's only taken five years to train her !!

After five years of stretchy leads , clickers , treats , big fussing and going insane my terrier now comes back.
Nothing was better than freedom. When she escaped she disappeared for hours and hours. Every walk was on a stretchy lead. My other dog brilliantly trained - so not me.
After five years the penny dropped and I can now let her off the lead.
To all terrier owners - it does happen - it just takes blooming years.

5 years Shock you deserve a medal for perseverance!

I'm so glad mine came with that bit of behaviour inbuilt and pre-trained. Complete pickle in other ways though!!!

We've got a terrier in our dog training class who ignores all food and other dogs if you let him have a ball. His owner was so pleased she'd finally found what motivated him. Made her walks a lot easier. Glad you've finally got there. Well done. Grin

Well done you! I've got a lurcher who is only just about starting to head for me and my whistles/treats/clicks rather than other dogs when he's off lead.
I think we've got a fair way to go before we're where you're at but I'm enjoying the progress!

I would like to say it's down to my hard work but I think the light just switched on and she matured. I had a moment of madness, let her off the lead and she came back. When she used to run away it would take me up to five hours to catch her ! The relief !
