Any fellow Westie owners?

Hello, just looking for a little advice about our 6 month old Westie. At the moment he's a lovely shaggy little chap but I'm aware that as a breed you have to be careful with their coats. Do you have to have them clipped? I groom him regularly myself and keep his coat tangle free, he's had a couple of baths but that's it. I don't want to have him clipped into the classic Westie show dog, but just wondering if it is necessary to have him clipped at all

Thanks x

Not a westie owner but our dog is a terrier possibly crossed with a westie (rescue so no ones really sure!) I asked my vet about this and she said it depends on whether the dog's comfortable really. We got our girl done as her poos were constantly getting caught in her arse hair (lovely I know!) & as her belly is quite low to the ground her fur can get quite muddy and tangled in bad weather. I guess it's a judgment call really, sorry if that's not a lot of help!

Ha ha, yes a furry bum has its' challenges!! I shall play it by ear and see how he gets on in the winter - I love his scruffy fluffiness but obviously want him to be healthy and comfortable. Thank you!
