First season - qq

My goldie has just started her first season - I'm a total novice dog owner, so just asking is it normal for her not to be keeping herself particularly clean? And if she's not doing it, presumably I should be - or not?! Not really sure how much washing of her I should be doing. (Obviously am doing lots of floor/bedding washing!)

Some dogs keep themselves spotless and even clean up after themselves...some wander round like Carrie, most are somewhere in between.

Ok, thank you....will keep walking behind her with a mop and bathing her tail as necessary!

I actually used one of the dog hygiene pants, no mess for us and she kept herself clean the rest of the time.

the first season is very new and scary to a lot of dogs and they can be unsure.
just keep wiping up- put washable bedding down and can put pee pads or paper on floor if necessary for easy removal.
try not to use too much shampoo or soap when washing her if doing it daily

Thanks Fletcher - she's really very subdued poor girl, and seems totally bemused! I'm not using shampoo really (well I did today for the first time as her tail was horrid), but just rinsing in water for the most part.

Mine slept for about 4 weeks and wasn't very cuddly or playful!

Ours kept herself really clean and licked up spots from the floor (actually wished she hadn't as would rather know where to clean). Can't really help, but I'd be cleaning her I think.
