Dog being sick in the mornings

My 3 year old lab seems to be sick some mornings ( early hours ) and there seems to be a pattern, I give him a big walk every other day through a field that has just been harvest for hey/straw and its on these days that he seems to be sick the following morning. Yesterday we did the walk, this morning he was sick but his stomach was empty. He seems fine in himself and he had scrambled egg for breakfast and has kept it down. Could there be a link to where we walk ( though my other dog came with us yesterday and she is fine ), he is due to be wormed so I'm going to do that today though I haven't seen any evidence of worms. Any ideas what it could be?

I'd guess he's hungry. A morning vomit can be indicative of that, especially if he's had an long walk the day before.

Try giving him a snack before bed, it might help a bit.

Yes I agree he's hungry. Our used to do this now they have a small meal at 10 and it's stopped. Was only ever bile vomit

If it's just bile then I'd agree it's likely to just be hunger. Mine get the hunger pukes if they go too long without food but they get a couple of biscuits last thing before bed and that sees them through until breakfast. Mine are also more likely to do it if they've had a big walk the day before.

He gets a hand full of dry food before bed, I feed him 2 meals at 7am and 5.30pm but I guess his 5.30 meal has been getting earlier as he is moaning to be fed, I shall try and feed him a bit later tonight xx

Yy, my spaniel does hunger pukes, he also pukes if he needs a wee for too long - poor love!
