How does your dog travel in your car

Just that really. Possibly about to rehome a rescue (trying not to get too excited about this in case it doesn't happen!) and just trying to work out the best way to travel with her in the car. Previously we had a dog gate between back seats and boot, but we will need some of the boot space for various kids equipment. Massive boot, so possibly a crate? Think I'm answering my own question here!

She sits next to me or in the footwell. Somehow I've had her for 8 years and not thought this through until very recently. Blush

In one of these crates in the boot of the car. They do doubles which take up the whole boot space or singles which leave some space free.

Mine wears a seatbelt and sits on the back seat .

OreoDog has a harness and seat belt - she is very good though and likes to travel by car.

I know someone with a beagle who gets car sick though - every time, and even on short journeys - I think they use a hold and towel method to prevent mess everywhere!

Ours has a gate between boot and back seats. I've been told by a friend that if your dog is unsecured it can invalidate your pet AND car insurance. But I am yet to look into it. Might be worth thinking about it though.

We have dog cages in the boot area of our 4wd. It's illegal here to have an unrestrained dog in the car.

Seat belt on the back seat.

We have a crate in the boot. When she was smaller she had a harness and doggy seat belt, but she finds the back seat quite stressful now.

Crate in the boot, we are thinking about a variocrate like those in the link further up page as they don't rattle like the cheaper ones do.
