So what's wrong with Eric?

Eric went to be groomed yesterday, it's not his favourite experience but he tolerates it and yesterday we managed to take him and collect him in less than 90 minutes (we think it's being away from us that bothers him although no separation anxiety when he's left at home)
Last time he was off colour for three days, sleeping more and generally miserable, eating but not wanting to extend his walks. Today he is as miserable as sin again, crying lots (not in pain more attention seeking) and wanting to be cuddled up on somebody's lap (which is definitely not like him) he's walked as normal but not eaten much (but that's not unusual)
Is it him sulking do you think? Pretty sure he's not ill as he looks ok, not hot, drinking ok, walking fine and running with his friends off lead, checked his skin for nicks or rashes and there is nothing. Any ideas?

I would change groomers if it's making him that miserable . My dog never used to like the groomers but he now goes every 3 / 4 weeks for alternate bath and full groom but I always make sure that he has his favourite lady and if she is on holiday we just move it a week , he now goes quite happily .

Are the groomers kind to him whilst he is there? He's not been roughly handled do you think?

We changed groomers from last time because of how miserable he was when he got back last time. The new one we introduced him to, we arranged it so that he'd be the only one there at that time because we thought it might be stressing him with lots of unknown dogs there,we took his toy and some treats and the lady was lovely with him, played ball with him first and then we left. She said he had been ok but he was obviously not keen on the experience and had cried (she thought for us) but when we got there he was having a ball with her three dogs in the garden (he loves other dogs we thought he didn't like being fastened up and not able to play) but again today he's really unhappy. We are now on his third groomer and each one has been recommended.

Would one of the mobile groomers that come and do it at your house or in a van on the driveway, so you can stay with him, help?

Moose I think that's what we will have to resort to, trouble is they are going to have to travel to get to us as here's no one local.

We can stay at the groomers - and it actually helps the groomer too as we can distract the dog with treats whilst she deals with the bits that would otherwise cause objections

Mine goes to an open salon and you are more than welcome to stay if you want .

Perhaps ask if you can stay with him first then, at least then you'd know whether or not you being around would make any difference.

I am going to ask the latest one if I can stay with him I think. I can't see it being a problem as she was really keen to make him feel happy. He's still not right this morning so it looks like it's going to take a while for him to get over it again.
