Raid ant killer and dogs

We just had a massive infestation of flying ants in our back garden.
I've gone out with the boiling kettle to try and kill them but there were so many that I got the Raid out and I've pretty much covered half the lawn.

Stupid stupid stupid!!
I forgot about the dog! Will the Raid harm him? There will be loads of dead flying ants now on the lawn that he'll eat!
What shall I do?

What does it say about using it around animals on the can?

Only thing I can think of is to give the lawn a thorough soaking and hope to dilute the the Raid.

Is your vet still open could you ask their advice?

Sorry I don't have any better advice hopefully someone else will have a better idea.

I worry terribly about how these kind of things affect animals so tend never to buy anything that's made for killing things.

The can doesn't say anything about animals other than turning of your fish tank unit while spraying.

I don't like killing either pigsdofly but this was a huge infestation. I couldn't go into the garden because there were so many of them flying round and the grass was pretty much covered in them.

Sorry Mckenzie that wasn't mean't to sound as if I was criticising you for using the ant killer. Absolutely agree, horrible things. My not buying things like Raid has got nothing to do with not killing things, I'm just too frightened to use them because of the dog and when I had cats the same thing.

I moved a few months ago and threw away about 3 cans of Raid that I'd bought but never used because I've always chicken out because of my animals.

I think a lot of these things affect marine life but are ok around other animals once the spray has dried. However, if your dog might eat the dead ants can only suggest perhaps trying to sweep up as many as you can, which is probably an impossible task.

Try the nippon bait stations instead next time, I usually place a brick on top to protect from the elements and to keep out of sight of kids and pets

Thanks for the posts. We are new dog owners so it's our first experience of trying to kill the ants while keeping the dog safe

I've swept the patio and taken the dog out for a walk instead of letting him into the garden. DH is going to put the hose on the grass later and hopefully wash away the dead ants into the drain that runs along the edge of the grass.
I'll keep the dog in the from garden tomorrow too.
