Puppy going out for walks.

Hello.

Have a 11 week old puppy. He had his 2nd injections so have to wait a week until he can start going for walks.

Obviously due to his age he is very excitable and nippy! Will going out for walks improve this at all?

Everyone says it will be easier when you can take him out for walks. I just wanted to know if it was true. Do things start be becoming easier once they can go out and about.

It makes them a little more tired - exercise plus new mental stimulation. Just be aware of who and what is around you.

Are you taking him out and about whilst carrying him so he can see the world?

He needs to get used to different sights and sounds and having lots of new experiences will help tire him even though he's not actually walking on the ground.

Actual walking. The advice is five minutes for every month of their age until fully grown. Of course you can also take them out and carry them so they can get used to the big wide world.

Thanks for the replies. He's had a few little walks being carried. I was just hoping actual walks might calm the biting down a little. And everyone keeps saying he will calm down when he's having walks but was thinking if this was actually true. I'd rather know now rather than later

I have a 13 week old puppy so we've been going out for walks for just over a week. She particularly loves running across the fields and yes it does tire her but she has a nap and is back to full energy again that may be because she is a cocker though and I don't think they do tired!

Mine is very nippy too and I think that is improving but can't say for sure whether it is walking that has done that or the fact that we've been ignoring the biting.

Not sure that that helps really but we've definitely both been enjoying the walks and at least you will have the option of getting out of the house if he becomes too excitable.
