Ours is a chihuahua/jack russel cross so obviously we call her the 'trained attack dog' 'vicious hound' and other untrue epithets.

I call her my precious pooch and other soppy things.

I call my dog Pup-a-lup and whenever she comes to greet me at the door, I say the same thing -
"Is this a Pup-a-lup I see before me? Is it a Pup-a-lup?!" and she does a little now and then frantically wags her tail.

I have no idea why I say this, nor where I got it from

We have a short legged black rescue dog.
She is known as dogface, stink hound or just plain old dog.
None of these are remotely similar to her name!

Two spaniels, 18 months and 11 weeks who are known as Twatdog and The Poodler, no idea why, it's nothing like their real names! Makes them sound like a crimefighting duo. They also answer to oi you, fatty, treasure, trinket, fartypants, chicken pie, strudel (and anything that rhymes with strudel - oodle poodle doodle woodle)...I'm surprised they know their actual names at all...they also each have songs about them/for them made up by DH- we are massive unashamed twee twats about the dogs

My parent's dogs are Tara = Taz, Tazzy, or Cha cha
Poppy = poppy popstar number one (why??) or Poppsy

Glad to see I am not the only one who calls my dog funny nicknames. One I often call her is Dogness and I once found a collar with this word written on it (not sure why, it was the name of the range of collars or something) which I had to buy, so that is her official nickname now.
