Putting weight on?

We need to put some weight on our sprocker/cocker/springer/somethingorother spaniel. He's had a tough start in life and every bone protrudes, he has no muscle on him but is otherwise healthy and full of life. He's on double ration but seems to burn off everything he eats, is it simply just time and love that will do it?

how is his output? if he is loose it might be too much food is working through his body too quickly and he's not getting all the goodness from it.

We feed our dog millies wolfheart and there is a facebook page for feeding advice and I recall someone saying when they fed their dog less it actually started gaining weight.

you can join the facebook page and ask for advice without buying the food, or have a look at the food too, they have lots of recipes with different protein/calorie levels for active/training dogs which might be suitable for putting on weight.

Output is normal, stools are small (but not constipation small) and formed. Sadly before he came to us he was on Wagg or Tesco Value dog food which we stopped. He's now on raw or Gentle.
