Ddog neutered on Friday! Now peeing all over the house!

Why??? He was trained pretty well before! So far today (just today) he's peed on sofa (leather thankfully!) my bedroom carpet, hall carpet and the stairs!!!!

He still has cone on his head. Jack x chi 7 months old
Are we back to square one now?

Unfortunately no experience on the matter, but could it be that the operation has changed his perception of feeling that he needs to pee? Either it's just needing some time to heal or he might have a UTI or something?
Not sure if that's likely but I'd be inclined to take him back to the vet to check him over.

I have a 9-month old puppy and have been told by several people to wait until at least 9+ months to have her spayed, as doing it earlier could cause incontinence. Did your vet offer any advice or warn you about this possibility?

Meant to say that in the mean time I would go back to taking him out every 20 minutes to relieve himself so he's more likely in the right place at the right time.

Could the collar be making him a bit unsteady on his feet so he doesn't want to go out?
I'm surprised at it having to be on for so long. Could you take it off when you're able to keep a close eye on him?

I've spoke to vet he's been checked over and we are just putting it down to him being excited to have his collar off as it was off for a few hours yesterday whilst we were watching him and again today but no peeing in the house today so hopefully just a blip!

Vet told me at check up to keep it on for a week because he kept going for it but today and yesterday he wasn't so bad so will play it by ear x

Be careful taking that collar off! "He wasn't so bad" doesn't sound good enough to me! A dog can make a fearful mess of the surgical site in just a few minutes so better a safe but unhappy conehead than sorry.

I had my chi cross Jack done at 9 months I toke the cone off as soon as we got home from the vets as he looked so uncomfortable and it never went back on as he was totally uninterested in his stitches.
It could just be the excitement of having the cone off. try taking him out every 20/30 minutes till he's recovered more from the op.

It's the lesser of two evils. 10 days or so with a collar on, or another GA to re-suture the wound, which will probably be breaking down and therefore take much longer to heal - then even longer with a collar on, antibiotics etc etc.

There are alternatives to the plastic cones, inflatable collars, soft collars, t-shirts. Ask your vet but don't risk letting him get to that wound!

10 days with a collar on seems a long time, maybe there are stitches or clips.
My dog had his wound glued, you could hardly see anything. I was surprised when I collected him as he didn't have a collar on. Vet said he didn't need one. I kept a close eye on him for a few days and he was fine, left the wound alone.

His stitches are dissolvable and inside. It's all very neat. When I say he wasn't so bad, he didn't go near them and the second he did the cone went back on :)

He is still a cone head today because as soon as I took it off he went for his wind so I put it straight back on!
