Hello!

We would love to add a mini dax puppy to our family but are having no luck at all finding one from a good breeder with the right health standards. Posting here in hope of tips -we are in Hampshire but happy to drive up to 150 miles.

Thanks Smile

Sorry, can't advise, except to say don't get one from the breeder who has dumped a very sweet natured but utterly disastrous health-wise pup on one of our dog walking clients.

I have never in thirteen years of professional dog care work seen a breed 'explode' like miniature dachshunds have in the past year or so, and I am not remotely surprised that the puppy farmers are having a field day with them Sad

Have you approached the breed clubs? They're usually a good starting point for finding a decent breeder.

The Dachshund Club - national, covers all varieties of standard and mini

The Miniature Dachshund Club - national, covers all varieties of mini

The Southern Dachshund Association - local club covering the south of England

The West of England Dachshund Association - local club covering the south west of England

Thanks smart alec have left a message for the president of the Miniature DC.

alpaca Sad we don't have a dog currently but our best friends do and they warned us about buying from pet shops or random online sites. We had dogs growing up but my parents always chose them so I had no idea of the minefield it is!
