Licking the wall then vomiting

Dpup is a year old. She seems fine in herself, but yesterday morning (before she had eaten breakfast) she starting licking the wall, then trying to nibble it, then vomited up yellow foaming type of vomit. As she didn't seem unwell, i thought perhaps she was hungry, so fed her dry biscuits and she was fine the rest of the day.

This morning she has done it again... licked a different wall and then started with the noises and stomach movements like she was going to vomit. I called her to come outside, she didn't vomit, ate breakfast as usual and now seems fine..

I have changed her food recently, for about a month now she has been on a different dry food. I am thinking she was licking the wall as she is lacking some nutrient maybe? And the action of the licking might be making her vomit. If she was unwell I would have her off to the vets, but she seems fine in every other way. Eating fine, pooing fine, drinking water fine, playing like normal.

Have you ever experienced this?

Yellow vomit from a dog with an empty stomach who is otherwise well is usually because they've got a too empty stomach.

I'd imagine the wall licking is just something she does if she feels sick rather than a lack of nutrients... assuming it's a complete dog food she's on.

Try either feeding her later at night or giving her a snack at bedtime and if that doesn't stop it then take her to the vet.

Please make a vet appointment asap. There are some serious illnesses that cause a dog to wall lick. It may not be in this case but you do need to rule them out.

Then if physical reasons are ruled out you can start to work on behavioral issues BUT you must rule out the serious physical illnesses first

What are they then Cheerful? I'm a vet nurse and never heard of anyone reporting wall licking as a symptom of a particular illness.

My dog occasionally vomits a small amount of yellowish stuff in the morning, always before his breakfast. Perhaps if he's expecting food the gastric juices build up and make him feel sick. Also he tends to lick the floor before he start retching - IMHO unlikely to be a sign of serious illness if the licking only happens before the morning vomit.
