Aww, he's gorgeous. Are you fostering him, or is this straight to forever sofa?

PacificDogwood · 22/04/2015 20:18

No, this is The Real Thing - straight for adoption Smile
He's being fostered just now.

19 months old.
Never raced because 'too playful' Grin
He's v skinny and will need some feeding up, but is more interested in squeaky toys than food.

A handsome boy! Please tell us how it goes. I loved hearing about Monty. I've got a lovely rescue mongrel 'border collie cross' stretched out on the floor at my feet right now. Three weeks and settling in nicely Grin.

PacificDogwood · 22/04/2015 20:34

Aw, thank you!
It's my birthday this week and he is my present to myself Grin

He will come with his own crate as there are still training ishoos which I may or may not have somewhat underplayed towards DH wrt being house clean and chewing…

I may come back here to moan about him Hmm

Very exciting Pacific, was wondering how you were getting on! I love the thought that he was too playful for racing! Just been watching the pets rehoming programme on ITV - did you have to pay an adoption fee?

PacificDogwood · 22/04/2015 21:08

Yes, small fee which is fine - I'd happily donate twice that.
I've become a 'member' of the rescue which basically means to donate a set mount per month or year.
They are doing such a great job. We'll see how he settles and then we'll foster another one, I'm hoping.

Monty is doing really well in his forever home, he's not eaten the cat from what I hear, and I may well get to see him at an organised walk soon Smile

Would another photo be too much?
He's so skinny Sad
I am already besotted and feeling quite maternal towards him

Bless him, a few extra tins of sardines and he'll soon get to a good weight though.

A nice squeaky toy to chew, and something squeaky you give him when he toilets in the right place and I'm sure that will come right too. Dpuppy has been a big of a beggar about chewing, but with a plentiful supply of things he can chew around, and swift replacement (and use of the crate to minimise unsupervised time when it was an issue) its ok now.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 22/04/2015 21:31

Aww he's lovely Pacific and huuuuge . Grin

He will get his paws right under the table and start taking advantage of you all Wink

Elite Athlete don't forget !

PacificDogwood · 22/04/2015 21:44

He is actually a fair bit less long-legged than Monty was, so I am hopeful that his giraffe neck won't quite reach the middle of the table

Yes, sardines and eggs and working dog food is all stocked Grin

I think the crate will be a really Good Thing - he won't be alone much or for any length of time, but just knowing he can be left without eating books/remote controls/cables/tonight's dinner/insert random object will be a boon.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 22/04/2015 21:52

Sardines and eggs ......................... hmmm that'll make for an interesting ozone layer Chez Dogwood

Buttholelane · 22/04/2015 21:58

Sorry to be the miserable one who spoils all the fun here.

But in that second photo he looks immensely stressed, very tense, ears back.

PacificDogwood · 22/04/2015 21:59
Grin Nothing new there then

Surely having somebody to blame every noxious bodily emission on is one of the joys of dog ownership, non?! Grin

PacificDogwood · 22/04/2015 22:01

Butt, yes, he's been from pillar to post in the last fortnight having been relinquished by his 'trainer' (I use this term v v loosely here Hmm) and was stressed and anxious when we met him in this park.
Because it was so sunny and he is so dark it was quite difficult to get decent photos of him.
But yes, your observation is absolutely spot on.

PacificDogwood · 22/04/2015 22:02

His ears btw have earned him the NN 'Luggie' - they are rather large and very very mobile - he was forever putting them up and down. I think we'll have to learn ear language tbh. V different from previous grey.

Lovely to hear Monty is doing well. You must all be looking forward to Sunday - only 4 more sleeps as they say!!

Lyinginwait888 · 22/04/2015 22:25

Oh I love a skinny!

They're ridiculous and lovely in equal measures. Congratulations Thanks

CarbeDiem · 22/04/2015 22:28

So pleased for you after following monty's story.
Good luck with him and enjoy x

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 22/04/2015 22:35

In the 2nd photo - is that your DC Pacific?

His front legs seem relaxed even if his face hasn't been told.

BoreOfWhabylon · 23/04/2015 10:40

Oh how lovely! You have your Forever Dog and he is beeeeoootiful!
Looking forward to updates Grin

PacificDogwood · 23/04/2015 20:53

70, yes, that's DS4(5) who is really rather timid and very very respectful of larger dogs, but somehow has totally taken to greys.

Bore, my, I thank you Blush

3 more sleeps!! Grin

You need to get out your LiverCake Recipe ( recall and incentive aid for pointys) Grin

My DS has always attracted dogs , he used to have huge greyhounds body wrapping him in the park when he was your DS age. I worried about him being mowed down by them or whapped by those tails but he was in Heaven .

PacificDogwood · 23/04/2015 22:19

Yum, liver cake Grin - sounds delicious!!

I would actually really like that recipe if you can share, 70?

TooOldForGlitter · 23/04/2015 23:03

Cor he's a blinder! Look at those ears! What a lucky lad to land on his feet with you Smile

I thought he looked stressed in your second photo. Can't blame the lad though. I'm sure he'll settle in. He's absolutely lovely.

TooOldForGlitter · 23/04/2015 23:06

I never mastered liver cake but my grey loves liver. I buy it cheap from Morrison's, pigs or lambs liver, and I plop it on a tin foil lined tray in a low oven for a couple of hours. You can slice it easily, it keeps and they love it.
