My dog was bitten by another dog

Sad Is there anything I need to do for her?

We were walking along a street when this other dog went for her. Ddog was on the lead, this other dog was not but should have been. I know nothing about the other dog or owner, got out of there as quickly as I could.

She seems ok, but I can see a little bit of blood on her fur. Should I try and clean the wound or give her a bath? Take her to the vet? Or just do nothing?

No advice really except to say that you need to be careful what you clean it with as some anti-bacterial stuff isn't suitable for dogs. I think I would just wait for it to heal so long as it's not a huge wound, but other people may think otherwise - depends on whether the other dog was carrying any disease. I'm so sorry for your ddog - hope she recovers quickly & isn't put off going for walks.

I'd clean it as much as you can with water so you can get a good look at it...and then leave it to heal if it doesn't need stitches or anything.

Also keep an eye on it for infection and expect it to be sorer than it looks because it'll bruise as well. Sad

It's not a big wound, doesn't need stitches or anything. Sad to be keeping an eye on it for infection, but that sounds sensible.

Give it a good clean with a regular antiseptic - chlorhexidine is ideal if you have it, just be sure she doesn't lick at it after. If you're unsure the use warm salt water.

She'll be bruised and sore tomorrow. Just keep an eye on it

Give it a clean with like warm water and some cotton wool and then put some savlon on it.
