Dog waking early - advice needed

We adopted a gorgeous 6yr old retired greyhound 2 weeks ago. She has settled in really well except that she is waking at around 5am every morning and this is creeping earlier and earlier - 4.30am this morning. She sleeps in the home office where it is dark and cosy. She goes to bed at around 11pm after a final toilet visit and settles quickly to sleep. When she wakes she cries/whines but rarely barks. On the advice of her adopter we have ignored her and don't go down until 6.30 to let her out.

Despite this she is still waking early which is taking it's toll on the whole family. I realise it is still early days so do you think it will get better and we just have to persevere with the ignoring? Or does anyone have any other advice? We are first time dog owners.

Eventually she will settle into your timetable. I feel your pain though as have pups who are still waking at silly o clock. I go down, sort them out, then go back to bed. I don't know the official advice, but if I ignore them (they usually need a wee so best not to ignore) it goes on and on.
