Inbetween vaccinations weeks - can they go anywhere?

Can they go for instance to other houses which have vaccinated dogs? I have 11 week old pups who obviously are going to miss the supposed 'magic 14 weeks' age for socialisation. I got them on Monday and they had their first vaccs yesterday.

Can vaccinated dogs be carriers for parvo etc?

Also, any other puppy vital info is very welcome - only had adult rescue dogs before so this is a whole new world! (and yes I know 2 pups at the same time is supposed to lead to a terrible life for all so don't need that info, cheers)

They can go anywhere as long as you carry them and they can mix with vaccinated dogs.

What they can't do is go on the ground anywhere where unvaccinated dogs or wildlife are likely to have been.

Yes there is a very slight risk, but, there's also a risk that you could carry parvo in on your shoes, so the benefits of socialisation far outweigh any risks.

In general with puppies, don't let them do anything you wouldn't allow from an adult dog, whether that's jumping up or climbing on furniture.

With two, do make sure you do separate training, outings and socialisation as it will make a huge difference.

Thank you. Yep, I have twins so have learnt the separate but equal. They are in separate crates already and only in the kitchen until they are potty trained. Ideally each child (13) is going to be responsible for their own dog, but I know it's all down to me really

Sorry to ask again, but to double check, they can run around in my mum's yard after being introduced to her dogs - obvs with supervision - or they have to be carried there as well?

If your mum's dogs are vaccinated they should be fine. Foxes can be a problem if they frequent the garden often, but most people take that risk and allow the pups in their own garden.

Yes, I only mentioned wildlife in case you live somewhere where you happen to know for definite there are families of foxes living in your garden for instance - mostly it's not an issue, but it's better to know it is an irrelevant problem than for it to be a relevant one and nobody mentioned it.

Yep, I hadn't thought foxes actually so that is good to know. Complete novice with pups here. We have a lot of badgers around me, so I won;t let them into the main garden until after protected. I had thought to keep them in the yard before the garden just for safety so they don't disappear, but I hadn't thought of wildlife making them ill.

Sorry if that makes no sense - way past tired now. Adopting adult dogs is SO much easier.

You can carry them everywhere and they will be fine with other vaccinated dogs.
I took my ddog everwhere with me and made sure he was well socialised with family dogs wouldn't let him in my garden due to wildlife being able to get in but he went in my fathers and sisters gardens as they were secure.
Having two isn't easy, my father and sister have littermates and when pups were living in same house but as long as you train separately and each gets some alone play time with you it does work out.
Just keep a watch during feeding to make sure both dogs are eating tidy and that one is not bullying the other.

Thanks Loki. I haven't risked it, not even the garden. Everything changes Wednesday The 'magic' weeks seem to vary between 14 and 16 weeks. The vet dismissed everything I asked him about that I'd found on the net, and he's quite a modern dog who was spot on about working out my mum's dogs behaviour.

It's working out fine I think - my children are home schooled so each has responsibility for their own dog. Pups are crying for their children rather than each other which is a good sign I think. A little sad for me as the rescues we've all had before adopted me as their main person, but this was part of the reason for getting youngsters this time around.

I ended up with a proper puppy prison in the kitchen and one of those metal playpens in the living room, so when they are getting a bit much they are separated. And fed and sleep in seperate crates in the puppy prison. Still knackered but hoping things will change a lot on Wednesday!
